The Big Pit coal mine in Blaenavon in Wales. 200 miners worked here – both underground and above ground – before the mine was closed in 1980. The human coal workers left the place.


But the heavy workers made of steel stayed, peacefully living through day and night, summer and winter. Small coal trolleys gather on green hills, and the winding tower – dutiful as always – has its eye on everything. Some of the steel colleagues cast happy glances into the afternoon sun and talk about the hard times. The coal milling machine, baring its teeth, shows its former power. And a bit further to the side two shy railcars meet for a little tête-à-tête. Let’s not disturb them…
