This series of photographs is about cemeteries. Most people associate cemeteries with death, mourning and loss. But they can be so much more – still oases in the middle of hectic cities, places for pausing and lingering, for thinking and for self-reflection. And on closer inspection they can also be places to discover different flora and fauna as well as ornate tombstones. Cemeteries are little treasures, ecological micro-cosmos constantly fighting against the city that is growing and expanding ever faster. My photographs are an invitation to discover the graveyards and cemeteries in Stuttgart and experience the mood they create.
